Description

A warm, filling breakfast casserole with buttery croissants, eggs, cheese, ham, and spinach that can be prepared overnight for a hassle-free morning.

Ingredients

  • 6 large buttery croissants
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced cooked ham
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and seasonings until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the egg mixture over the croissant pieces, ensuring they are soaked.
  4. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese, followed by the diced ham and half of the spinach over the croissants.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining croissants, egg mixture, cheese, ham, and spinach.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and let the casserole sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before baking.
  8. Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Allow to cool slightly, garnish with herbs, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Use fresh croissants for best texture. Can be customized with different proteins or vegetables.
