A warm, filling breakfast casserole with buttery croissants, eggs, cheese, ham, and spinach that can be prepared overnight for a hassle-free morning.
Ingredients
- 6 large buttery croissants
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs for garnish
Instructions
- Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and seasonings until smooth.
- Pour half of the egg mixture over the croissant pieces, ensuring they are soaked.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese, followed by the diced ham and half of the spinach over the croissants.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining croissants, egg mixture, cheese, ham, and spinach.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and let the casserole sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before baking.
- Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and the center is set.
- Allow to cool slightly, garnish with herbs, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
Use fresh croissants for best texture. Can be customized with different proteins or vegetables.
