Description

A comforting breakfast casserole combining classic flavors of ham, turkey, and cheese, topped with powdered sugar and jam.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup cooked turkey or chicken, diced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • Powdered sugar, for serving
  • Jam, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and place half of it in the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
  4. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread cubes.
  5. Layer the diced ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread, then top with the remaining bread cubes.
  6. Pour the rest of the egg mixture over everything, ensuring all bread is soaked.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  8. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until the casserole is set and golden brown.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with warm jam.

Notes

Choose good quality bread for enhanced flavor. Allow sufficient soaking time for better flavor blending.
