Description
A comforting breakfast casserole combining classic flavors of ham, turkey, and cheese, topped with powdered sugar and jam.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup cooked ham, diced
- 1 cup cooked turkey or chicken, diced
- 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- Powdered sugar, for serving
- Jam, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place half of it in the bottom of the prepared dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
- Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread cubes.
- Layer the diced ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread, then top with the remaining bread cubes.
- Pour the rest of the egg mixture over everything, ensuring all bread is soaked.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until the casserole is set and golden brown.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve with warm jam.
Notes
Choose good quality bread for enhanced flavor. Allow sufficient soaking time for better flavor blending.
