Description

A hearty breakfast casserole with sausage, hash browns, and cheese that is easy to prepare and perfect for busy mornings.


Ingredients

  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 lb turkey sausage
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1 (30 oz) bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 375°F and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk (or cream), salt, pepper, and garlic powder until smooth.
  4. Spread the thawed hash browns evenly in your baking dish. Top with cooked sausage and a layer of cheese. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden and set.
  6. Let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy with hot sauce or chunky salsa for a little kick!

Notes

You can make this casserole ahead of time and bake it fresh in the morning. It pairs well with fresh fruit or a side salad.
