Description
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is a sweet-and-savory favorite made with tender chicken simmered in a rich honey garlic sauce. An easy, hands-off dinner that’s packed with flavor and perfect over rice or veggies.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts (about 1.5–2 pounds total)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger (optional)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the chicken on both sides with salt and black pepper, then place it in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, ginger, vinegar, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken, making sure all pieces are well coated.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or on HIGH for 2.5–3 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Optional: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water. Stir it into the slow cooker during the last 30 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Once done, spoon the sauce over the chicken.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving
Notes
Chicken thighs stay extra juicy, but breasts work well too.
Serve over steamed rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice.
For extra flavor, lightly brown the chicken before adding to the slow cooker.
Adjust honey or soy sauce to taste if you prefer sweeter or saltier.
