Description
This soothing Turmeric Fat-Burning Golden Tea is a warm, creamy drink made with plant-based milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and a hint of vanilla. It’s a cozy way to enjoy antioxidant-rich spices and healthy fats as part of a balanced, wellness-focused routine.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, but recommended)
- 1/2 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
- A dash of vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
1. Add the unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk to a small saucepan.
2. Whisk in the ground turmeric, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of black pepper until the spices are well combined with the milk and no large clumps remain.
3. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the coconut oil, if using, and continue to whisk occasionally.
4. Warm the mixture gently for 4–5 minutes, until steaming and hot but not boiling. Avoid bringing it to a full boil to preserve the delicate flavors.
5. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the raw honey or maple syrup (if using) and a dash of vanilla extract, adjusting sweetness to taste.
6. Taste and adjust the spices if desired, adding a little extra ginger or cinnamon for more warmth or a tiny pinch more black pepper to enhance turmeric absorption.
7. Pour the golden tea into a mug, using a fine-mesh strainer if you prefer an ultra-smooth texture.
8. Serve immediately while warm, sipping slowly and stirring occasionally as the spices may naturally settle toward the bottom.
Notes
- Use unsweetened almond or coconut milk to keep this drink focused on healthy fats and minimize added sugars.
- A small pinch of black pepper is important because it helps your body better absorb curcumin, the active component in turmeric.
- If you like a frothier golden tea, blend the heated mixture carefully in a blender for 10–15 seconds (venting the lid, and never filling it more than halfway with hot liquid).
- Adjust the sweetness to your goals; for a more “fat-burning–focused” version, use very little or no sweetener.
- Turmeric can stain countertops, utensils, and fabrics, so wipe up any spills right away and use tools you don’t mind getting a golden tint.
- For an extra creamy drink, choose canned coconut milk thinned slightly with water, or a barista-style almond or coconut milk.
- This drink is best enjoyed fresh, but you can mix the dry spices in advance and store them in a small jar so making a cup only takes a few minutes.
