A hearty and comforting breakfast casserole loaded with eggs, sausage, cheese, and bread, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread, cubed
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Optional: diced vegetables (bell peppers, onions, etc.)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Layer the cubed bread in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage and vegetables (if using) over the bread.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and sausage.
- Top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, use day-old bread for better texture. Customize with your favorite ingredients or add leftover vegetables.
