Description
A comforting casserole combining sausage, eggs, and bread, perfect for busy mornings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Sausage (your favorite type, like pork or turkey)
- 6 large Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 4 cups Cubed Bread (preferably stale)
- 1 cup Cheese (shredded cheddar or mozzarella)
- Vegetables (bell peppers, spinach, or onions)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a frying pan over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
- While the sausage cooks, beat the eggs in a large bowl. Add the milk and whisk until combined.
- Once the sausage is fully cooked, drain any excess grease if needed, and let it cool for a few minutes.
- In a large baking dish, layer cubed bread evenly across the bottom.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the bread.
- If using vegetables, chop them and mix them in with the sausage.
- Add the shredded cheese on top of the sausage and vegetables.
- Pour the egg and milk mixture over the entire dish, ensuring it soaks into the bread.
- Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden and the eggs are set.
- Remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve hot with fresh herbs, fruit, or a simple green salad. Consider adding hot sauce for spice.
