Description

A comforting casserole combining sausage, eggs, and bread, perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Sausage (your favorite type, like pork or turkey)
  • 6 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 4 cups Cubed Bread (preferably stale)
  • 1 cup Cheese (shredded cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Vegetables (bell peppers, spinach, or onions)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a frying pan over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
  3. While the sausage cooks, beat the eggs in a large bowl. Add the milk and whisk until combined.
  4. Once the sausage is fully cooked, drain any excess grease if needed, and let it cool for a few minutes.
  5. In a large baking dish, layer cubed bread evenly across the bottom.
  6. Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the bread.
  7. If using vegetables, chop them and mix them in with the sausage.
  8. Add the shredded cheese on top of the sausage and vegetables.
  9. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the entire dish, ensuring it soaks into the bread.
  10. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb flavors.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden and the eggs are set.
  12. Remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with fresh herbs, fruit, or a simple green salad. Consider adding hot sauce for spice.
