Description

A hearty breakfast casserole layered with hash browns, sausage, eggs, and cheese, perfect for busy mornings or leisurely weekends.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 30 oz frozen hash browns
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions


Instructions

  1. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sour cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Grease a 9×13 baking dish. Layer half of the hash browns, half the sausage, and a layer of cheese.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake covered for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 20-25 minutes until golden.
  6. Top with chopped green onions and serve warm.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, replace sausage with sautéed vegetables. Adjust seasoning to taste.
