A hearty breakfast casserole layered with hash browns, sausage, eggs, and cheese, perfect for busy mornings or leisurely weekends.
Ingredients
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 30 oz frozen hash browns
- 8 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
Instructions
- Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sour cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Grease a 9×13 baking dish. Layer half of the hash browns, half the sausage, and a layer of cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake covered for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Top with chopped green onions and serve warm.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, replace sausage with sautéed vegetables. Adjust seasoning to taste.
